About Eta
O
With a strong influence from the great old masters like Sargent, Abbott Handerson Thayer, Rembrandt, Camille Corot, Eta Coman works in her own developed style which comes naturally from personal emotions and inner poetry as a left handed person.
She lived almost all her life from her own creations as a graphic designer and since from high school she made poetry and vestimentary creations, than she expressed herself in many forms and creative fields, until she tried the paints.
And, this was love at first brush stroke!

“When I paint a portrait, I like to depict emotions that the viewer will find and experience. Some will remember some emotions, some will find new ones to enriches hers/his day.
I love good old jazz and bossa nova, and I try to catch the music flow in an static image, I want to hear the music when I look at it, you tell me if it sings to you too.
Especially, I like to describe love, to portray love, my soul yearns for love, whatever I have is not enough. And I need to give it away through paints. To paint emotions is a need that I have since I discovered the paints, and I paint just to escape from this need.
In school I was strongly educated with hard efforts form my teachers, not to write with my left hand, that is why now I draw and paint with both hands.
I like to paint impressions but I also love details! I make a brushstroke, I put down an impression from my inner state, a feeling, with a brush or a knife, I like to paint impressions, until all of them, all of the strokes, creates a landscape, a portrait, or something that I like, and refined it to the point that it is perfection in my vision! I work with a minimalist, limited color palette to create oil paintings that are striking in their simplicity. I like a deep rich atmospheric but still simple approach that emphasize the subject and the theme that I choose. Sometimes I like to call my work “visual poetry”.”

With a diploma in drawing and painting, as any other artist, continuously learning about art and techniques, she permanently develops the personal original intuitive painting style, orientated to Contemporary Figurative Art, a delicate combination between realism and impressionism with slightly exaggerations of a form, a light, a color, or something that a little intuition dictates, which makes her works exclusive and unique.
Often, the camera cannot show the subtleties of some color transitions or, it shows some parts much more detailed then the eye can see in one looking, therefor, seeing one work in front of you it’s a more delightful experience than looking at a photograph of it! And always the real piece makes a powerful presence, it will surprise the viewers, even if they were already enchanted with the electronic image!
